Giampaolo decides Calabria’s substitute for the derby
Fabio Borini and Andrea Conti are the two candidates to replace suspended Calabria in the derby against Inter.
MILAN NEWS – It’s derby time. After two back-to-back wins, AC Milan are hoping to repeat themselves at the most prestigious stage of Italian football. The Rossoneri are not yet convincing in their performances but Inter too, despite the nine points in Serie A, have serious problems as demonstrated by the match in Champions League.
Marco Giampaolo is working to improve his squad and the fans are eager to see which of the new signings will debut in the derby. One important question-mark is who will take Davide Calabria’s spot in defence.
The young Italian right back received a red card in the last moments of Verona-Milan and is suspended for the derby. According to reports, Fabio Borini and Andrea Conti are the two candidates.
While Borini has proven flexible playing in every position that AC Milan coaches have asked him to during the years, it will be Andre Conti to make his first start under Giampaolo in Serie A.
The former Atalanta right-back, who was very close to leaving Milan this summer, will have a golden opportunity to prove himself. AC Milan invested €24 million to sign him from Atalanta in 2017 but two knee injuries have limited him to only 20 appearances (many as a substitute) in the last two years. It’s derby time but it is also Conti’s time to finally showcase his talent at San Siro.
