Conceicao wants to axe 4 AC Milan players within January

Four AC Milan players have not impressed new coach Sergio Conceicao and will need to find new clubs within January because they are not part of his project.

AC Milan secured a precious narrow win over Girona to practically secure a spot amongst the Champions League best eight teams which translates into secured qualification to the next phase without the need of playoffs. It would be a remarkable achievement considering the Rossoneri’s form in Serie A. Nevertheless, the Red and Blacks also need an important victory on the transfer market with Kyle Walker being the only one to join AC Milan so far.

Sergio Conceicao has made it clear that he wants reinforcements but at the same time the Portuguese coach wants a couple of players to leave the club in January. Journalist Nicolo Schira reports that Conceicao has handed the management a list of four names that are not part of his project and need to find a new club within January. Obviously the arrival of Kyle Walker means that Emerson Royal is out of the picture. The Brazilian has had mostly negative moments since his arrival from Tottenham six months ago and was set to leave during this week.

In fact, AC Milan had reached an agreement with Galatasary to sign Emerson Royal on loan with an option to buy for a total fee of €12 million. Today was supposed to be the details finalization day but Emerson’s injury against Girona has put everything on hold. The Brazilian defender is expected to stay out for around six weeks so Galatasary are likely to pull the plug on this deal.

A player in a similar situation is Noah Okafor. The Swiss left winger was supposed to join Red Bull Leipzig on a lucrative deal for the Rossoneri. However, Okafor was deemed overweight by the German club during medical tests. There is still interest in his services particularly from Bournemouth and Eintracht Frankfurt. AC Milan are open to let Noah Okafor leave on simple loan as well.

Same fate awaits Samuel Chukwueze. The former Villarreal winger has been quite a disappointment since his arrival in the summer of 2023. AC Milan invested a significant amount for Chukwueze but have little to show for it. Fonseca wanted the Nigerian right winger to leave and now Sergio Conceicao wants him out as well. AC Milan are willing to cut their loses on Samuel Chukwueze and have put him on the market with a €15 million asking price. The player rejected a lucrative offer from a Saudi club a few days ago as he would prefer a return to Spain or a transfer to the Premier League.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek and a positive first season in Italy even managing to score 10 goals but now it is Tijjani Reijnders to provide the goals from the midfield department. The English midfielder has featured sporadically this season and is now a peripheral figure in Sergio Conceicao’s squad. AC Milan hope to recoup 15 million from his exit and are trying to ignite interest for Loftus-Cheek in the Premier League.
