New coach: AC Milan top candidate is finally available

Maurizio Sarri

Maurizio Sarri

Chelsea and Maurizio Sarri will part ways at the end of the season. The Blues have decided to sack the Italian coach after just one year in helm.

AC Milan’s search for a new coach is entering a crucial phase. Gennaro Gattuso will not be confirmed for next season so the Rossoneri are in search of the perfect candidate to replace the former defensive midfielder.

Francesco Di Francesco, Gian Piero Gasperini and Maurizio Sarri are some of the names that have been linked with Milan while Antonio Conte and Pochettino are not deemed realistic targets. The Chelsea coach is believed to be Paolo Maldini’s top pick for the bench and the Italian is set to return in his homeland this summer.

Sportmediaset and La Gazzetta dello Sport report that Chelsea have decided to sack Maurizio Sarri at the end of the season despite reaching a third place finish in the league and the Europa League final. The Italian has fallen out of favor with the Blues fans and management. Sarri will reportedly be replaced by former Chelsea legend Frank Lampard.

Now AC Milan will battle Roma for Sarri’s services. The former Napoli coach is certain to return in Serie A with Roma and AC Milan his most likely choices. Roma too are in need of a new coach after the announcement that Ranieri’s contract will not be renewed.

The Rossoneri will wait the end of Serie A before entering in talks with another coach. During his time in Italy Sarri was notorious for his tactical intelligence, attention to detail, his highly organized 4-3-3 game system  and attacking-minded football. The 60-year-old coach could represent the ideal solution for Elliot’s new project.
