AC Milan are expected to spend big next summer in order to sign a new centre forward according to a report.

In a few days Olivier Giroud will turn 36 years old while Zlatan Ibrahimovic turns 41. Both centre forwards have contracts that expire at the end of the season. Ibrahimovic is set to retire while Giroud could sign a one-year extension. AC Milan’s other striker, Divock Origi, has spent more time injured than playing so far.

Obviously the Rossoneri have a difficult situation to manage in attack. Important changes will likely take place in that department at the end of the season. Calciomercato.com reports that AC Milan will make a significant investment to buy a new centre forward next summer.

Lille striker Jonathan David is the preferred name for the job. Both Maldini and Massara are big admirers of the 22-year-old Canadian striker who has done really well with Gent in Belgium and in France with Lille. David is widely expected to leave Ligue 1 soon and AC Milan could be his next destination.

Jonathan David has been on AC Milan’s radar for a long time. In recent years, the Rossoneri have done frequent business with the Ligue 1 club and David’s name has has popped up on a number of occasions. Lille are asking a fee of at least €50 million in order to sell Jonathan, their most prized asset.

The Canadian striker scored 19 goals last season. He is not the typical centre forward but rather a striker who a plays between the lines and attacks spaces. Unpredictable in counter-attacks, David is a player with good ball control and great movements that help him create space for himself.
