Chelsea coach eyes January transfer move for AC Milan midfielder

Chelsea are eyeing a move for AC Milan midfielder Ismael Bennacer in the January transfer window according to reports.

Ismael Bennacer is having a scintillating start to the season. The 24-year-old AC Milan defensive midfielder is playing a key role for Stefano Pioli’s squad. The departure of Franck Kessie has allowed the Algerian to have more freedom and more responsibilities on his shoulders this season.

Bennacer’s form has not gone unnoticed with Premier League clubs keeping a close eye. Ismael was part of Arsenal’s youth ranks for some time for two years so English club have never lost sight of him. CMW reports that Chelsea are eyeing a move for AC Milan midfielder Ismael Bennacer in the January transfer window. He is the second AC Milan player on Chelsea’s radar after Rafael Leao.

New Blues coach Graham Potter wants to lure the player to Stamford Bridge to end their midfield woes. Chelsea have been without the services of N’Golo Kante while Jorginho’s contract expires at the end of the season and the Italian midfielder has not been offered an extension as of now.

It is said that Potter has identified the player himself in the hopes of bringing him to Stamford Bridge for the second half of the season. Chelsea coach Graham Potter is confident that Bennacer has the technique and tenacity to match the level of the Premier League and an offer could be imminent in January.

AC Milan are in no mood to sell one of their prized assets but Bennacer’s €50 million release clause leaves little room for negotiation. The Rossoneri are currently in negotiations to renew Ismael’s contract. The 24-year-old currently earns around €1.7 million and has demanded at least €4 million per season to put pen to paper on a new deal.
