Capello: ‘One AC Milan player could have played for my legendary squad’
AC Milan midfielder Sandro Tonali has been in excellent form this season earning the praise of legendary coach Fabio Capello.
AC Milan are leading Serie A with three points of difference from their closest rival Napoli. Only eight rounds remain until the end of the season and the Rossoneri could win their first Scudetto in over a decade. Sandro Tonali has been one of the players to give an important contribution so far.
After a difficult first year at San Siro, the 21-year-old central midfielder has established himself as one of the best players in Serie A earning a call-up for Italy’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers. Tonali has finally matured in his game becoming an irreplaceable player in Stefano Pioli’s eleven.
Sandro Tonali has even earned praise from Fabio Capello with his great performances this season. The former AC Milan coach believes that Sandro has been so good that he could have played on his legendary squad that dominated European football in the 90’s.
“Tonali would have space in my great AC Milan squad. Personality, strength and quality, he is very intelligent on the pitch. He is very strong on a defensive level, and equally strong in passing the ball forward. He sees the game, and moves the ball with speed“, said Capello in an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport.
Paolo Maldini pulled off a transfer masterstroke signing Tonali for a total fee of €20 million. Now the market value of the elegant midfielder has more than doubled becoming one of AC Milan’s most prized assets. The former Brescia has in negotiation to extend his contract with the Red and Blacks.
