AC Milan face Cagliari in their second league match in 2020 with Pioli deciding to bench both Suso and Piatek.
After the disappointing new year debut against Sampdoria AC Milan travel to Cagliari to face one of the best performing Italian clubs this season. For Cagliari vs AC Milan, Stefano Pioli will ditch the 4-3-3 formation and use a new game system, 4-4-2. However, that will not be the only change.
The department that will have practically no transformation is the defence. In front of Gigio Donnarumma there will be Calabria, Musacchio, Romagnoli and Theo Hernandez. Once again Davide Calabria will be used on the right instead of Andrea Conti who returns on the bench after a couple of first team appearances.
For the first time this season there will be four midfielders in AC Milan’s starting eleven. Franck Kessie and Ismael Bennacer at the center with Hakan Calhanoglu on the left and Samu Castillejo on the right.
In attack Zlatan Ibrahimovic will make his first minute debut with Rafael Leao on his side. The lack of goals in recent games has convinced Pioli to change formation and use more attacking-minded players up front.
CAGLIARI (4-3-2-1): Olsen; Faragò, Pisacane, Klavan, Pellegrini; Nandez; Cigarini, Rog; Nainggolan, João Pedro, Simeone.
AC MILAN (4-4-2): Donnarumma; Calabria, Musacchio, Romagnoli, Theo Hernandez; Castillejo, Kessie, Bennacer, Calhanoglu; Ibrahimovic, Leao
