Bild reveals the next coach of AC Milan
German newspaper Bild reports that AC Milan have offered Ralf Rangnick the opportunity to become coach and sporting director of the Rossoneri.
Parallel to the Serie A and the wait for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, AC Milan are already planning the future and the path for the club’s definitive revival. According to reports by the German newspaper Bild, the Rossoneri are thinking of an international coach for next season: Ralf Rangnick.
According to Bild, AC Milan have proposed to the 61-year-old German a double role as coach and sporting director of the club starting form June. The Milan management is deeply impressed by his work with both Red Bull Leipzig and Red Bull Salzburg.
Ralf Rangnick is considered as the architect of the remarkable rise to prominence of both Red Bull-owned clubs. He served as sporting director at both clubs and coach of RB Leipzig on many occasions. Rangnick made a name for himself after taking Hoffenheim from the fourth tier to the Bundesliga and later was also appointed coach of Schalke 04.
Rangnick stepped down as Leipzig coach last summer and now works as Red Bull’s head of sport and development and primarily oversees Red Bull’s teams in New York and Sao Paulo, while retaining some influence behind the scenes at Leipzig.
Though concrete talks are underway, Rangnick would join AC Milan only next summer. Stefano Pioli will continue to be coach of the Rossoneri until the end of the season. The disappointing results this season (of both squad and management) has forced the club to search for an English style manager rather that the typical coach profile. Just like with Zlatan, AC Milan expect an answer soon.
