Bertolacci makes stunning claims against Milan
Former AC Milan central midfielder Andrea Bertolacci claims that the club ordered coach Gennaro Gattuso not to play him.
Andrea Bertolacci will always be remembered as one of AC Milan’s biggest transfer flops. The 28-year-old central midfielder left the club in June on a free transfer without ever leaving his mark at San Siro.
In the summer of 2015 AC Milan invested 20 million euros to sign Bertolacci from Roma. The Italian midfielder had done well on loan at Genoa scoring 6 goals and assisting 8 in 34 league appearances before joining AC Milan. An expense flop never accepted by many fans who at the time considered the purchase of Bertolacci a “mistake”.
Andrea Bertolacci was left without a team until a few days ago, when he chose to return on the pitch accepting Sampdoria‘s offer.
The 28-year-old player in an interview with Secolo XIX explained the reasons for his choice: “I will let the pitch speak, I will do everything to honor Sampdoria. The president wanted me and is a sign of esteem. He promised it to me years ago on a plane to Rome“.
Bertolacci then hit out at his former club suggesting that his lack of play time was a decision of AC Milan. “I had no problem with Gattuso, it was he who wanted me to stay at Milan. My contract was expiring and leaving me on the bench was more a choice of the club. I trained with a smile, I didn’t have problems and I had a good relationship with everyone. I’ve always trained well. I miss the game rhythm but I’m fine and I will find it quickly“.
