Barcelona have joined the race for Franck Kessie. The AC Milan midfielder is in talks to extend his contract.
AC Milan have a priority and that’s the contract renewal of Franck Kessie, an essential pillar of Stefano Pioli’s team. The parties are at work and next week Maldini and Massara will meet the agent of the Ivorian midfielder, George Atangana, to reach an agreement reports Gianluca Di Marzio.
Currently, there appears to be a minimal distance between the parties. The player’s entourage has asked for an improved contract of 6 million euros. AC Milan, who started with an initial offer of 4 million euros, have modified their proposal to 5 million plus bonuses.
Meanwhile, several clubs are looking on the background interested. Liverpool and other English clubs are the first to move and try to pry Franck Kessie away from the Rossoneri. Now Barcelona have joined the race.
According to Don Balon, Barcelona president Joan Laporta considers Franck Kessie as the perfect replacement for Sergio Busquets. The Spanish 33-year-old is nearing the end of his splendid career and Barcelona are already thinking of his successor. However, Barca would like to sign Kessie next season, when his contract with the Rossoneri has expired.
In short, the Blaugrana are hoping that at the end the Ivorian midfielder will not renew his contract and he will be available on a free transfer next season. A situation that Milan will do everything to avoid. Kessie represents the present and the future of Stefano Pioli’s team.
