AC Milan striker Krzysztof Piatek is one of the top transfer targets of Barcelona this summer. Barca want the Pole to replace Luis Suarez.
TRANSFER NEWS MILAN – Not a single AC Milan player managed to reach double figures in goals this season. A disappointing statistic that however doesn’t reflect the excellent year of Krzysztof Piatek.
If Piatek would have played the entire season with AC Milan then perhaps the Rossoneri would have achieved Champions League qualification. In his first season in Italy, the Polish 23-year-old striker scored 22 goals in Serie A (ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo) and 8 in Coppa Italia for a total of 30 goals in 42 appearances. The former Genoa finds the back of the net every 114 minutes.
Great numbers that convinced AC Milan to invest 35 million euros for his services. However, Krzysztof Piatek’s form at Genoa, and his confirmation at higher levels with Milan, has attracted the attention of many foreign clubs including Barcelona.
The Pole has been a much discussed figure in Spain recently. Sport reports that Barcelona are in search of a top centre forward. The Spanish champions are desperate to reinforce their attack after the devastating Champions League exit against Liverpool and the defeat in the Spanish Cup final against Valencia.
Piatek is one of the main transfer targets Barcelona have scouted as an alternative or attacking partner for Luis Suarez, whose goals and performances have been in decrease lately. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the striker’s market value is at around 60 million euros but even this figure won’t be enough to convince AC Milan to sell. The Rossoneri see Piatek as one of most important players of the club and a leading figure of the new project. However tempting the offer of Barcelona may be, AC Milan have no intention of selling.
