Ivorian midfielder Franc Kessie will not be the only AC Milan player to leave the club as free agent at the end of the season.
The season of renewals at Milan has officially begun. Matteo Gabbia signed a new contract extension last week while now it was the turn of Then Hernandez to put pen to paper on a new deal until 2026. Ismael Bennacer and Rafael Leao are expected to be next.
Nevertheless, a couple of players will follow another direction. Franck Kessie has rejected AC Milan’s renewal offers and will leave at the end of the season as a free agent. But Kessie will not be the only one to take this path. AC Milan captain Alessio Romagnoli will follow in the footsteps of Calhanoglu and Donnarumma.
Tuttosport reports that renewals talks with Romagnoli are halted. The problem is of economic nature. The Italian centre back currently earns 6 million euros per season, bonuses included. AC Milan have offered him a new long-term agreement at €3 million per year. While Romangoli is open to reduce his salary, he has no intention to go that low.
The future of Alessio Romagnoli will very likely continue to be in Italy. Lazio and Juventus are his most likely destinations. His agent Mino Raiola has publicly declared that Juventus is a valid option for the AC Milan captain with Massimiliano Allegri reportedly in favor of his signing.
The AC Milan management are aware that the chances of Romagnoli’s renewal are drastically low. The Rossoneri are already planning for the future without their captain. Sven Botman is the number one target to replace the Italian defender. The Lille defender has a price tag of over 30 million euros.
