Alvarez repeated: AC Milan lose top striker target to PL club
Just like one year ago, AC Milan have lost the race for a highly rated Argentine forward to a Premier League again.
AC Milan had been following Julian Alvarez for the majority of 2021. Despite the excellent report of head scout Geoffrey Moncada, the Rossoneri refused to pay his release clause and eventually the Argentine striker joined Manchester City to win the treble and the World Cup with his national team.
Same scenario has been repeated now for Alejo Veliz. AC Milan hesitated to pay the release clause of the 19-year-old centre forward and Tottenham Hotspur took advantage of the situation. Veliz will be joining Tottenham after the Premier League club decided to pay his release clause of €15 million.
Alejo Veliz was considered the top target for AC Milan’s attack. Noah Okafor has just joined Stefano Pioli’s squad but the Italian club wants to add another centre forward to their ranks before the transfer window is over. Colombo will leave either on loan or permanently while Divock Origi must only choose his next club.
While AC Milan were bid admirers of Alejo Veliz they could not sign the Argentine forward immediately. The Rossoneri are currently focused on exits and cannot move forward with the purchase of a new striker before completing the sale of Divock Origi. The Belgian is totally out of Pioli’s project and was not part of the USA tournament.
Alejo Veliz might be gone but AC Milan are still looking in Argentine for their next striker. Lucas Beltran is the new name on the Rossoneri’s radar. Beltran had a great season with River Plate scoring scoring 16 goals and providing 4 assists in 34 appearances with River Plate. The price tag of Lucas Beltran is similar to that of Veliz.
