Eder Militao has suffered a serious injury that will keep him out for a long time and Real Madrid are looking to sign a replacement.
Real Madrid made a winning start to the season with a convincing 2-0 victory over Athletic Bilbao. However, it was not all positive news for the Los Blancos. Brazilian defender Eder Militao was forced to leave the pitch in the second half due to injury. Militao has suffered a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee and will undergo surgery in the coming days.
Eder Militao is expected to stay off the pitch for at least six months forcing Real Madrid to return on the market for a new centre back. An important name is required the fill the void of the Brazilian centre back who is a key player for Carlo Ancelotti. According to reports from Spain, Real Madrid have been offered the services of Malick Thiaw.
El Debate writes that the agents of Thiaw have proposed the highly-rated German centre back to replace Militao. The 22-year-old was a revelation last season in Serie A. Despite a slow start, Thiaw established himself as an important player for Stefano Pioli’s side in the second part of the season partnering mostly with Tomori at the hear of the defence.
One year ago, AC Milan spent around €8 million to purchase Malick Thiaw from Schalke. Today, his market value has increased a lot following a string of impressive performances from the Germany international. Only a bid in the region of €50 million could convince AC Milan to part ways with one of their most prized assets.
It will be interesting to see the composition of AC Milan’s hierarchy in defence this season. However, it looks like Thiaw and Tomori will be the starting duo with Kalulu and Kjaer in back-up roles. The Rossoneri are highly confident in the potential of the young centre back and with a contract until 2027 feel in command of the situation regardless of the reported movements of his agent.
