AC Milan wonderkid Hachim Mastour restarts his career
He was widely considered as the most exciting talent of AC Milan youth ranks but somewhere along the way Hachim Mastour lost his path becoming a total disaster.
From potential phenomenon to a meteor. For Hachim Mastour everyone had foreseen a bright future after AC Milan spend a record fee of 500 thousand euros to sign the then 14-year-old from Reggiana. Instead the young attacking midfielder failed to live up to expectations, despite the many possibilities he had.
AC Milan tried in every way to enhance him, to give him the opportunity to show his talent. In the youth ranks, then loan periods at Malaga and PEC Zwolle followed but there was nothing they could do. The Italy-born Moroccan always returned to base without any regrets of not having exploited the chances given.
On June 2018 his contract with AC Milan expired and Mastour became a free agent. No Italian club, Serie A or in minor leagues, wanted to sign the 20 year old. Surprisingly Mastour tried to revive his career starting a new adventure in Greece. Super League club Pas Lamia signed him on a free transfer but he left at the end of the season making only 6 appearances.
Hachim Mastour eventually returned to Italy to play for Serie C club Reggina. After a total of 12 appearances and a loan at Carpi Reggina decided to cut their ties with the once promising attacking midfielder. It’s worth noting that while on loan at Carpi Mastour scored his first and only professional goal in a 5-1 defeat against Sambenedettese.
After being clubless for over a year, the 24-year-old is embarking on a new journey in what will be perhaps the last attempt to restart his career. Hachim Mastour has joined Renaissance Zemamra. Zemamra is a football club playing in Morocco’s second tier division. A return to his roots for Hachim who was born in Italy but has Moroccan origin.
