Boban and Maldini want to appoint Massimiliano Allegri as coach of AC Milan offering him a long-term contract and a role similar to Ferguson.

At Casa Milan, these are very busy days because of the January transfer market, where the Rossoneri are at work both to make purchases and to close some sales. But the management is already looking to the future and in the summer there will be a new revolution that will start from the bench.

As widely expected Stefano Pioli will step down as coach of AC Milan. Thought Pioli has a contract until 2021 the parties have an agreement to end their relationship early if the Rossoneri fail to qualify for Champions League. The suspect number one to take the place of Pioli is Massimiliano Allegri, who in the past has already led il Diavolo from 2010 to 2014.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Paolo Maldini and Zvonimir Boban wants to entrust the AC Milan squad of the future to a top manager and the Livorno-born coach seems to be at the top of the list of the two Milan directors. In the Rossoneri’s plans, to convince him to return to Milanello, there would be the idea of giving Allegri a manager role similar to Alex Ferguson. AC Milan are willing to offer Allegri a long-term contract in order to start long-term project.

The former Cagliari, Milan and Juventus coach has the perfect identikit of what Boban and Maldini are looking for. The duo have in mind a fast team, with legs and ideas, but not only. The new AC Milan, in fact, must be able to play with multiple formations and Allegri is a master of tactical transformation, as well as having already demonstrated in his long career that he knows how to value young players.

Massimiliano Allegri is the last coach to have won the Serie A with AC Milan. The 52-year-old guided the Red and Blacks for three and a half seasons. In addition to the Scudetto, Allegri also won the Italian Super Cup in 2011 and Milan were regulars in Champions League despite selling their best players. He then went on to win 5 Serie A titles with Juventus and reaching the Champions League final twice.
