AC Milan-Atalanta, probable lineups

Atalanta vs AC Milan

Atalanta vs AC Milan

On Sunday AC Milan host Atalanta at San Siro. The Rossoneri must bounce back with a win after the underwhelming draw against Cagliari.

The Rossoneri return to play in Serie A after the European trip to Dudelange. AC Milan edged past the local side thanks to a single goal by the unstoppable Gonzalo Higuain. It was a match where Gennaro Gattuso rested many regular starters offering them the possibility to be fresh for the upcoming league encounter with Atalanta.

Gigio Donnarumma retakes his place between the posts while the four defenders in front of him are expected to be the same we saw against Cagliari. Ricardo Rodriguez and Davide Calabria return on the wings while Matteo Musacchio will accompany captain Romagnoli in the middle. Surprisingly Mattia Caldara was absent from the squad list and according to reports has suffered a light injury in training.

Nothing changes in midfield with the usual trio set to start again. Lucas Biglia is deployed in front of the defense while Giacomo Bonaventura and Franck Kessie, who feature 20 minutes against Dudelange, complete the department. The three midfielders are required to contribute a lot against Atalanta.

The injury of Patrick Cutrone with Italy U-21 has limited Rino’s choices up front. Yet again it’s up to El Pipita to lead the attack. Since his arrival at San Siro the Argentine striker has scored 2 goals and has provided one assist in four games with the Rossoneri. Cutrone is not available for tomorrow so Higuain will start from the first minute. Hakan Calhanoglu and Jesus Suso will support him on the wings with both looking to find the back of the net for the first time this season.

AC MILAN (4-3-3): Donnarumma, Calabria, Musacchio, Romagnoli, Rodriguez, Biglia, Kessie, Bonaventura, Suso, Calhanoglu, Higuain

ATALANTA (3-4-1-2): Gollini, Maisello, Palomino, Toloi, Gosens, Freuler, De Roon, Castagne, Gomez, Zapata
