AC Milan were very active on the transfer market this summer but the Rossoneri have made an earlier attempt to sign even Cristiano Ronaldo.
Today La Repubblica, reveals an interesting backstory regarding the Rossoneri. According to the Italian newspaper, months before the interest of Juventus, AC Milan had made an attempt to bring Cristiano Ronaldo in Italy, but at San Siro.
A crazy but concrete idea, presumably born around the month of January, when the first creaks between Real Madrid and the Portuguese phenomenon began to appear. At the time the 33 year old forward demanded a new contract otherwise he would start to look around for a new team.
CR7 has always been fascinated by the idea of playing in Italy, and AC Milan tried to test the ground with Jorge Mendes, agent of Ronaldo and very close in business relations with the former Rossoneri leaders Marco Fassone and Massimiliano Mirabelli. An intriguing and perhaps even achievable idea, if not for the obvious problems of Chinese ownership led by the elusive Yonghong Li, the debts with Elliott Management fund and the dispute with UEFA.
All obstacles that have slowed down the shopping campaign of AC Milan and especially the possible negotiation with Real Madrid for the purchase of Ronaldo. All this led to the forced change of ownership one month ago, with Elliott fund taking control of AC Milan, but then the Portuguese superstar had already chosen Juventus as his new team.
