AC Milan are evaluating another Portuguese midfielder besides Sanches. Maldini is impressed by Sporting ace Matheus Nunes.
AC Milan continue their search for a box-to-box midfielder. Renato Sanches remains the priority but the Portuguese midfielder seems tempted to join his former coach Christophe Galtier at Paris Saint-Germain. The French giants are giving him a richer contract, however, at Milan he would be a central figure.
If talks for Sanches ultimately fail AC Milan are looking at his national teammate Matheus Nunes as alternative. A Bola reports that Maldini and Massara are impressed with what Nunes has done in the last two yeas in Portugal with Sporting Lisbon. A ductile player able to break the opponents and at the same time help create for his teammates in attack.
Matheus Nunes was born in Brazil but has chosen to represent the Portugal national team. His great performances with Sporting and Portugal have not gone unnoticed with several clubs interested in his services. The 23-year-old has already rejected to move to Wolverhampton while Newcastle seem ready to cover him in gold.
In the last season, Matheus Nunes made a total of 50 official appearances, scoring 4 goals and assisted 5. The young midfielder has a contract with Sporting Lisbon until 2026 so his club are asking a fee of at least 30 million in order to par ways with one of their most prized assets.
Nunes is a less physical midfielder than Kessie or Sanches but he boasts an excellent technique. At Sporting, Nunes and Palhinha formed a formidable duo in midfield that played an instrumental role in Sporting’s recent league, cup and super cup victories. AC Milan really like him but the price tag looks prohibitive for now according to the Portuguese newspaper.
