AC Milan signed six young players this summer but perhaps the management could have done a better job had they been not so obsessed with Correa.
This summer AC Milan invested around €85 million to bring at San Siro six players while, expect Patrick Cutrone who transferred to Wolverhampton, no notable figure was sold.
Theo Hernandez, Rafael Leao, Ismael Bennacer, Rade Krunic, Leo Duarte and Ante Rebic joined Marco Giampaolo’s side. Six young players with the oldest being 25, just like Milan owner Elliot Management had instructed.
However, not everyone is convinced by the summer transfer business of the Rossoneri. According to Corriere della Sera, Milan’s stubborn insistence on signed Angel Correa proved costly and was the biggest mistake by Paolo Maldini and Zvonimir Boban.
The Italian newspaper writes that Milan wasted two months with Correa, who eventually remained at Atletico Madrid. It would have been wiser to quite earlier and follow other alternatives.
Only on the last day of the summer transfer window, AC Milan decided to shift their focus on Ante Rebic. The Red and Blacks signed the Croatian striker on a two-year loan with Andre Silva joining Eintracht Frankfurt on a loan swap-deal. Perhaps, if Milan had valued other players in advanced, a more established name could have arrived.
