AC Milan could revive their interest in Tottenham right-back Serge Aurier if Andrea Conti leaves the club in January.
MILAN TRANSFER NEWS – When during the summer there were doubts about Andrea Conti’s stay, the name that was often linked to AC Milan was that of Serge Aurier. The Ivorian right-back seemed to be the only candidate to replace the Rossoneri’s number 12.
Nevertheless, nothing happened. In fact the former Atalanta decided to remain at Milan despite some interesting proposals from other Italian teams that could have offered him more game time. Conti preferred to stay at Milanello and fight for a starting spot with Davide Calabria, knowing that his friend is considered the regular right-back in Giampaolo’s starting eleven.
Conti in the recent derby against Inter finally had a chance from the first minute, but he didn’t take advantage of it. In the coming months, AC Milan will evaluate his performances to see if in January the best solution is to either keep or loan him at another club where he can play more.
In case of Conti’s departure, the Rossoneri will knock again on Tottenham’s door for Aurier. The 26-year-old defender is part of Tottenham since 2017 but in the past he has also played for three seasons at Paris Saint-Germain. Two years ago the Premier League club paid €25 million to acquire Aurier’s services. The player, who is known for his problematic character, earns 4 million per season and has a contract until 2022.
According to Sportmediaset, Tottenham value the player at €15 million. The Champions League finalists were willing to sell Aurier during the summer and are open to negotiate again in January with interested clubs. Mauricio Pochettino has made 22-year-old Kyle Walker-Peters the regular starter on the right and considers Aurier a second choice, despite having used him from the first minute in the last two Premier League matches.
