AC Milan are already planning the summer transfer window and Paolo Maldini has chosen his first targets.
AC Milan were one of the most active clubs on the mercato. After closing the arrivals of Tomori, Meite and Mandzukic, one for each department, the Rossoneri are also planning their moves ahead of the summer. Marseille’s French right winger Florian Thauvin is the top target reports Corriere dello Sport.
In fact, Maldini and Massara made an attempt to bring Thauvin in Italy already in January but Marseille would not even consider such an option. For this reason everything was postponed for June, when the championships are over and the Rossoneri will know their final position in the standings.
Thauvin is about to become a free agent after refusing to renew his contract with Marseille and represents a great opportunity not to be missed under these conditions. Other clubs have expressed interest in him but Milan are at the top of the player’s wish list. Arriving on a free transfer, he would receive a rather high salary, in contrast with the policy of the Rossoneri club.
Nevertheless, Maldini’s list of summer targets doesn’t end with Thauvin. Contrary to expectations AC Milan didn’t sign a left back. Many names were considered but at end the Rossoneri decided not to close for any. That’s become they couldn’t convince Palmeiras to sell Matias Vina in January. The Uruguay international is the chosen one to fill the role of Theo Hernandez’s backup. Palmeiras ask around 10 million euros for Vina and after winning the Coppa Libertadores the price tag could increase even more. Junior Firpo of Barcelona remains a secondary option.
The Rossoneri, who are working on the renewal of the Turkish midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu, are also evaluating the situation of Brahim Diaz. The Spanish midfielder should return to Real Madrid at the end of the season and Milan are thinking of his replacement. The name that appeals most is that of Otavio Edmilson from Porto. Just like Thauvin, Otavio becomes a free agent at the end of the season. Roma are also very interested in his services.
