AC Milan to sell 3 players in order to fund a move for Piatek
AC Milan are in advanced negotiations with Genoa for Krzysztof Piatek but in order to fund a move the Rossoneri must sell three players.
AC Milan was playing the Italian Super Cup final in Saudi Arabia yesterday but Leonardo remained in Italy to take care of transfer business. The sporting director met with Genoa president Enrico Preziosi. Rossoneri striker Gonzalo Higuain is expected to join Chelsea in the coming days so Milan must find a worthy substitute.
Genoa acknowledged that both clubs are in negotiations for Krzysztof Piatek but in order to approve a move they demand a fee of around 40-45 million euros and above all without “strange formulas“, quoting sd Giorgio Perinetti. Translation: Genoa sell the player only on a permanent basis or on loan but with the obligation to buy. Leo is taking his time.
Because beyond an urgent technical need, the Rossoneri always must take into consideration the Financial Fair Play and it serves the approval of Elliott Management Corporation. The parties will met shortly and AC Milan are expected to present an official offer. The Rossoneri must act quickly because Real Madrid are interested in Piatek too.
CorSera reports that Milan have identified the strategy to follow to land Piatek. The club will save 9 million euros from the loan of Higuain and another 9 million from his salary but that’s not enough. The Rossoneri must also conduct an important sale except the sure to depart Andrea Bertolacci and Alen Halilovic.
Hakan Calhanoglu should be the big name to change team soon. According to reports AC Milan and Red Bull Leipzig have reached an agreement but coach Gennaro Gattuso has blocked the sale. The Italian will green light a move only when AC Milan sign a replacement, something that Leonard has already done (read here).
