AC Milan to make choice between two CB
AC Milan need to sign a new centre back before the summer transfer window is closed and the Rossoneri can’t wait for Milenkovic any longer.
AC Milan continue to be very active on the transfer market and aim to close the purchase of a new central defender as soon as possible. Technical director Paolo Maldini knows how much a new player is needed in that area of the pitch because for the moment both Duarte and Gabbia have not been able to replace Kjaer and Romagnoli.
According to Tuttosport (via MilanNews.it), given the difficulties to reach Milenkovic and Pezzella, for which Fiorentina continues to ask very high figures, the Rossoneri’s sights are above all on Kristoffer Ajer of Celtic and Wesley Fofana of Saint Etienne.
The Scottish club wants at least € 20 million guaranteed to let Ajer go, while Milan are more inclined to close the deal on loan with an option to buy that could become an obligation under certain conditions. Celtic, as we know, are a rather expensive shop and will not give up their prized central defender that easily.
The other option is Wesley Fofana. Despite Leicester City being in pole position after submitting an offer of 28 million euros to Saint-Etienne, contacts between AC Milan and the agents of the player have never stopped and confirm that the young central defensive is a concrete target of the Rossoneri.
Regardless of how the Europa League preliminaries go, Milan need a new defender to face this long season because Kjaer and Romagnoli alone cannot be enough at the center of the defense. The summer transfer window is nearing the end and the Rossoneri don’t have the luxury to wait for Milenkovic any longer.
