SM: AC Milan to fund Lucas Torreira signing with Kessie sale
Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira is AC Milan’s dream signing and the Rossoneri could fund his purchase with Kessie’s sale.
After signing Rade Krunic from Empoli for €8 million, and already completing the first summer sale, the Rossoneri are fully concentrated on the transfer market with the midfield department having priority.
Stefano Sensi is the mostly likely candidate to join Krunic as second signing but AC Milan are planning a bigger purchase. Management duo Maldini and Boban have contacted Cagliari over Nicolo Barella but their €50 assessment of the Italian midfielder has pushed Milan to consider Lucas Torreira as a more viable option.
The former Sampdoria midfielder misses Italy and would like to return after just one season in England. “Lfe was better in Italy. The language [barrier] has stopped me, to be able to relate with my team-mates and with the people. It is very difficult when you can’t have dialogue. And so is the climate. You go out in the morning and it is cloudy, you arrive late to your home and it is cloudy“.
According to reports, Arsenal demand €40 million euros to sell the 23-year-old defensive midfielder. A hefty price tag that AC Milan are trying to match but without depleting their summer transfer budget.
Sportmediaset reveals that Lucas Torreira’s purchase may be funded by the sale of Franck Kessie. The two players are on the market for exactly the same price. Kessie is not indispensable for Giampaolo’s game system and could be sold if any club matches AC Milan’s economic requests. Tottenham and Atletico Madrid are very interested in the Ivorian midfielder.
