After being courted by AC Milan for a long time, Florian Thauvin has made a sensational choice moving to Mexico, at Tigres.
For months Marseille star Florian Thauvin has been linked with a move to AC Milan. The contract of the right winger expires in a few days and the French player can join a new club on a free transfer.
Contacts with the Rossoneri were several but talks never really took off. Thauvin’s economic demands and his agent’s high commissions forced AC Milan to leave everything on standby and look at other targets.
The Marseille winger has surprised everyone with his choice and is moving to Mexico instead. Tuttomercatoweb reports that Tigres have completed the signing Florian Thauvin. The 28-year-old has put pen to paper on a five-year contract of 5 million euros per season. Tigres are expected to announce the signing tomorrow.
The Mexican club had been in search of a marque signing and the choice was between Thauvin and Adnan Januzaj of Real Sociedad. At the end Tigres managed to convince the Marseille wing to reject the offers of Milan, Napoli and Atalanta.
A similar story to that of Andre-Pierre Gignac who in 2015 left Marseille on a free transfer to join Tiges and become the undisputed star of the Liga MX. The two French players will be teammates now. This season Thauvin has scored 8 goals and assisted 10 in 42 appearances with Marseille.
