MN: AC Milan speed up transfer talks after derby defeat

The disappointing derby defeat has pushed AC Milan to intensify negotiations with Marseille right winger Florian Thauvin.

MilanNews.it reports that the Rossoneri are increasingly convinced that they should strengthen the right wing when the summer mercato opens. The management, in addition to dealing with delicate contract renewals, is in negotiations for a long time with the agents of Marseille star Florian Thauvin.

According to MilanNews, in the last period the AC Milan management have intensified phone calls to get more and more into the heart of the matter and complete a quick deal with the World Cup winner. So far, Thauvin has scored 7 goals and assisted 9 in 32 appearances.

The contract of the French star expires at the end of the season and he will not renew with Marseille. The economic demands of the 28-year-old right winger are considered excessive by the Rossoneri but Maldini hopes to convince Thauvin to sign a five-year deal at 4 million euros per season. 

The biggest problem that AC Milan are facing is not the player’s wage but the commissions to be paid to his agents and the club does not overspend. However, talks proceed and AC Milan are quite optimistic on a positive outcome. The right wing is considered a weak point of the Rossoneri squad.

The good will of Castillejo and Saelemaekers is commendable, both give their best, but in terms of goals scores the two do not contribute enough. The Belgian has scored only two goals in Serie A while the Spaniard just one. Very low numbers for AC Milan who are challenging for a spot in the top four this season.
