RAI reports that AC Milan have speed up their pursuit of Maurizio Sarri. The Italian coach will leave Chelsea after just one year in England.
After the mutual termination of Gennaro Gattuso’s contract, AC Milan must search for a new coach. The Rossoneri must first decide the future of Paolo Maldini before announcing the name of the new coach but that’s not stopping the club from negotiating with several names.
Chelsea’s coach Maurizio Sarri is reportedly Paolo Maldini’s preferred candidate for the bench. Maldini, who could soon be promoted to sporting director of Milan, believes the Italian manager is the perfect choice for a young and ambitious squad like the Rossoneri.
According to RAI, there has been an acceleration in negotiations between AC Milan and Maurizio Sarri. Antonello Perillo reports: “Juve? It is not said. I receive signs of a strong courting from AC Milan. A sudden acceleration in talks in these hours, immediately after Gattuso’s resignation. In short, Sarri could eventually lead the Rossoneri’s bench“.
Sarri achieved great recognition for his work at Napoli. The 60-year-old coach guided the Partenopei for 3 season regularly qualifying in Champions League but, despite the spectacular football, he didn’t win any silverware with Napoli.
The fresh winner of Europa League will leave Chelsea after just one season. He finished Premier League in fourth place but that wasn’t enough to earn him confirmation for next season. It’s still unclear if in the end Milan will secure Sarri’s services. Juventus are a strong contender and are trying to lure him back to Italy for next season.
