AC Milan are searching for a new striker and Genoa star Krzysztof Piatek is being considered by Leonardo for January.
If a survey was conducted on the player who has had the greater impact at the beginning of the new Serie A season the results would be unanimous in the same direction. Not Cristiano Ronaldo, not Gonzalo Higuain or Mauro Icardi and certainly not Insigne. The real surprise of the this new football campaign is Krzysztof Piatek.
Genoa’s summer signing is the real crack of this start of the season. An extraordinary impact in Italian football, so tactical and defensive, that many other strikers with a more international and prestigious pedigree would not dare to imagine. The numbers speak for themselves: 6 games played and 8 goals scored in Serie A. In addition, the Polish striker has netted a poker in Coppa Italia.
Piatek, purchased from Krakow for only 4.5 million euros, is a real masterstroke of Genoa’s talent scouts who blindly recommended the signing of the 23 year old bomber. His 12 goals in 7 appearances (a goal every 50 minutes) have not gone unnoticed in Italy and big clubs are taking notice. La Gazzetta dello Sport reports about a three-way race for the services of Piatek.
According to rumors Juventus has moved in advance to book Piatek for next season. The Bianconeri are already in discussions with Genoa but the two Milanese clubs, Milan and Inter are ready to battle, hoping that Genoa will start a bidding war without offering privileges to anyone. The Rossoneri could use a player like Piatek, young but already experienced, to alternate with Gonzalo Higuain and Patrick Cutrone or in partnership in case Gattuso decided to shift to a 4-2-2 lineup in the future.
