AC Milan prioritize Depay signing
Rossoneri CEO Ivan Gazidis is involved in bringing Memphis Depay at AC Milan and will soon present an offer to Lyon.
According to the latest rumors AC Milan have turned their attention on Napoli star Dries Mertens. Spanish outlet Todofichajes reported that the Rossoneri have already reached an agreement to sign the Belgium striker on a free transfer at the end of the season beating the competition of clubs like Inter, PSG and Chelsea.
However, TuttoMercatoWeb depicts another situation with Milan interested in Mertens but the primary target of the Rossoneri is in fact Memphis Depay. Positive signs are coming from France. The contract of the Dutch winger expires in June 2021 and the 26-year-old has informed Lyon he has no intention of renewing.
Depay’s will to leave has caused a massive drop in his market value. The former Manchester United left winger who was rated at least 50 million euros one year ago, is now worth half of that figure. Ivan Gazidis is the number one sponsor of the Netherlands international.
TuttoMercatoWeb reports that AC Milan are trying to exploit the favorable situation and have already started contacts with Depay. AC Milan are readying a 20 million offer plus a percentage on the future resale. Very soon Lyon president Aulas will meet with Ivan Gazidis to discuss the proposal.
For years Depay has been repeatedly linked with AC Milan but a transfer has never materialized. The conditions are finally suitable for AC Milan to sign one of the best players in Europe at a bargain fee. Memphis Depay scored 14 goals in 18 appearances with Lyon this season before suffering a ligament rupture that likely keep him out until early July.
