AC Milan prepare centre back sale

Jherson Vergara

While many expect AC Milan to make signings in attack and midfield, currently, the club is more active in defense. After Paletta and Gomez is time to sell another centre back.

The club of Via Aldo Rossi is currently working mainly on sales. At least three defenders are expected to find new teams to play. Gustavo Gomez is in continuous talks with Boca Juniors, but the negotiation has been complicated in the last hours. Gabriel Paletta, whose contract expires in June, is in talks with Sassuolo who are willing to take it him immediately only as free agent, but other opportunities are not lacking. Finally there’s Jherson Vergara. The 23 year old Colombian is still in the squad after loans at: Parma, Avellino, Livorno and Arsenal Tula.

Last summer he returned at Milan after a temporary adventure in Colombia. His sale still seemed inevitable. And it was practically done: in the last days of August there was an agreement with Bari but it all failed due to a second delay in the delivery of documents in the League offices. According to today’s edition of Il Corriere dello Sport, negotiations have reopened this January. Bari want the services of the young Colombian defender. It is still unclear whether it will be a permanent move or still on loan.

AC Milan would certainly prefer the first option. Jherson Vergara has never been a player at the level of a club like the Rossoneri. He arrived in 2013 for 2 million euros and has never had a chance in official competitions. As well as in these first six months of the season. However a loan with the right to buy seems the most likely option. Updates are awaited.
