The injury of Mike Maignan has forced AC Milan to considering the signing of a new goalkeeper with a clear identikit in mind.
Pioli was expected to count on three new players for the upcoming Serie A match against Monza. Maignan, Kjaer and De Ketelaere seemed to have fully recovered and ready to give a helping hand to the rest of the team. However, the French goalkeeper has immediately suffered another physical problem.
The new injury means that the year at AC Milan is over for Mike Maignan and he will be between the posts only in January. There is a slim hope that the 27-year-old may participate in the latter stages of the World Cup. An awful news for the Rossoneri who have struggled a lot in Maignan’s absence.
The injury of Mike Maignan could impact a lot AC Milan’s transfer plans. The Rossoneri had decided to sign at least one new goalkeeper this summer. Antonio Mirante’s contract will not be renewed and Ciprian Tatarusanu’s contract expires at the end of the season as well.
Now, the management is considering signing a new goalkeeper in January. The new shot-stopper must be a player in his twenties and he should become the second choice for the goal with Tatarusanu relegated to third goalkeeper in club hierarchy.
Maldini and Massara are already evaluating their upcoming moves with Tatarusanu not offering the necessary guarantees in Maignan’s absence. The profile of the new goalkeeper has been outlined but no names have been linked so far.
