Gds: AC Milan in pole position for Italian striker
AC Milan are looking to buy a new striker this summer with Gianluca Scamacca being the top transfer target.
After two meetings between Paolo Maldini and Gerry Cardinale, one at Casa Milan and one more “secret” at Maldini’s home, the RedBird number one described the time spent with the AC Milan technical director as “fantastic”. Now it’s time for the transfer market to come to life and from words the Rossoneri must move on to deeds.
First issue to solve is the contract renewal of Maldini and Massara with current deals expiring in 18 days. Next in line will be the announcement of Divock Origi’s signing and likely that of Renato Sanches. However, Origi will not be the only striker to arrive with AC Milan seriously interested in Gianluca Scamacca.
AC Milan consider Scamacca the heir to Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The 23-year-old Italy international is a powerful centre forward with good dribbling abilities and a clinical shot. Scamacca was author of a fantastic season with Sassuolo scoring 16 goals in 36 Serie A appearances with the Neroverdi.
In addition to attracting the attention of important clubs, the 23-year-old’s fine form has been rewarded and now Scamacca is a regular part of the Italian national team. The talented striker seems ready for for the next step. AC Milan have never lost sight of him despite Sassuolo’s insistence on his €40 million price tag.
Inter were the favorites to land Scamacca but the city-rivals are about to close on Dybala and have practically abandoned the race. The player wants to continue his career in Italy and does not favor a move abroad. The Rossoneri are now in pole position to acquire his services reports Gazzetta dello Sport.
