AC Milan player leaves on the last day of mercato
Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara failed to sign a new centre back while one player left the Rossoneri in the last day of the mercato.
It was a very long day for AC Milan but ultimately the Rossoneri came out empty handed from the last days of the summer transfer window. Until the very last minutes Milan tried to sign Mohamed Simakan from Strasbourg.
Simakan had agreed a five-year contract with the Rossoneri but Strasbourg rejected three offers from Milan. Maldini offered up to 15 million euros for the French centre back plus a 20% future resale and and bonuses but Strasbourg would not accept anything less than 25 million. Milan had even sent a private plane to France for Simakan but the deal fell through.
At the same time Milan did no business regarding sales. Loan offers were rejected for Andrea Conti with the Rossoneri ready to wait him until he fully recovers. The only one to leave was Alen Halilovic.
The Croatian midfielder has terminated his contract with AC Milan and will join a new club on a free transfer. Halilovic was completely out of Stefano Pioli’s plans so there was no point for the Rossoneri to keep a player who was not considered useful.
A totally anonymous experience that of the former Dinamo Zagreb, Barcelona and Hamburg player. Halilovic was signed on a free transfer in 2018 by Massimiliano Mirabelli but never convinced any coach. Halilovic made just 3 appearances with AC Milan in Europa League for a total of just 60 minutes. He played on loan at Heerenveen last season.
