AC Milan are set to complete a deal for Mohamed Simakan and make the Strasbourg defender their first January signing.
The Mohamed Simakan telenovela is about to end. AC Milan have chosen the 20-year-old to reinforce the defence after trying to sign him until the very last days of the summer. Negotiations were unsuccessful at that time even though the Rossoneri had booked a private plane ready to take him in Italy. However, the right time has come for the RC Strasbourg talent to join Milan.
Paolo Maldini and Massara never abandoned their pursuit Simakan despite Strasbourg being reluctant to sell. At the end of December, the Rossoneri made an offer of 15 million euros that was rejected by Strasbourg. The French club are battling relegation this season and didn’t want to lose their most prized asset.
Nevertheless, the desire of the player was clear. After having agreed personal terms with the Rossoneri long time ago, Simakan rejected bids from English clubs because he wanted to join only AC Milan. Finally, both clubs are discussing the last details of the agreement reports MilanNews.it.
AC Milan and Strasbourg have been talking for a long time. Milan’s offer has always been 15 million while Strasbourg insisted for 20 million. Finally the two clubs are set to complete a transfer for about 15 million plus 2-3 million in add-ons. The player is expected to arrive in Italy next week for medical exams and latter sign a five-year contract.
Coach Stefano Pioli will have a new centre back at his disposal for the rest of the season. Simon Kjaer has recently recovered and Pierre Kalulu has done well but still Milan needed a new player. Mohamed Simakan made his breakthrough in Ligue 1 last season and immediately cemented his status as a regular starter. This season the French defender has made 17 appearances, scoring one goal and providing one assist.
