AC Milan midfield to change with two players in and two out

AC Milan’s midfield is about to change significantly after the departure of Franck Kessie towards Barcelona.

The departure of Franck Kessie has left an important void that AC Milan are working to fill as soon as possible. Renato Sanches remains the number one target to replace Kessie. The Lille midfielder was one step away from joining AC Milan until PSG’s intervention complicated everything.

Nevertheless, the interest of PSG seems to have cooled down recently. Maldini and Massara are still confident that an agreement can be reached but the contract offer for Renato Sanches needs to be improved. Tiemoue Bakayoko is another player set to join Kessie out of AC Milan.

The French midfielder will return to Chelsea before being shipped to another club on loan again. Tommaso Pobega will take Bakayoko’s spot in Stefano Pioli’s squad. The 22-year-old Italian central midfielder had a very positive last season with Torino. He scored 4 goals and assisted 3 in 33 Serie A appearances.

The Rossoneri have decided to reject every offer for Pobega and give him a chance to prove himself at San Siro. The elegant midfielder could be the real surprise of the new season. The AC Milan management are convinced that Pobega has the potential to succeed and become an important player under a master like Pioli.

Sandro Tonali and Ismael Bennacer will continue to play a key role in the future. Bennacer is set to sign a new contract soon at around 3.2 million per season and his €50 million release clause removed. The Rossoneri also plan to reward Tonali with a nee deal for the excellent season he had.
