AC Milan are in talks with Chelsea to sign Fikayo Tomori on a permanent deal. The Rossoneri have asked a small discount.
Fikayo Tomori has had a sensational start of life in Serie A. The English defender has settled perfectly well and immediately became a regular starter in Stefano Pioli’s formation.
In January, Paolo Maldini’s first choice was Mohamed Simakan but after his injury the Rossoneri shifted their focus to Tomori. A great signing considering the impact of the former Chelsea. So much so that now captain Alessio Romagnoli has lost his spot and risks leaving at the end of the season.
Signing Fikayo Tomori from Chelsea on loan was not an easy feat. The Blues did want to give AC Milan an option on their talented defender but Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara managed to convince them. Now the Rossoneri have opened negotiations with Chelsea to sign Tomori on a permanent deal.
Journalist Nicolo Schira reports that Milan are officially in talks with the Premier League giants. The 23-year-old centre back has expressed his desire to continue his career in Italy. The Rossoneri would like to decrease the transfer fee a bit from the €28 million figure agreed in January but it is highly unlikely that Chelsea will make any discounts.
Nevertheless, AC Milan will exercise their option. So far the former Chelsea defender has made 14 appearances with the Rossoneri forming a rock solid partnership with veteran Simon Kjaer.
