AC Milan are apparently in search of a new central defender and according to reports from France the Rossoneri have already made an offer for Lyon’s Marcelo.
Despite UEFA teasing the Rossoneri are very active on the market. According to reports from France, AC Milan are negotiating with Lyon not only about the transfer of Mempis Depay (read here) but also about centre back Marcelo.
The Brazilian defender joined Lyon last summer for 7 million euros and has been a fixed starter throughout the season. The 31 year old has proven to be a reliable option in defense securing Champions League qualification for next season with his new club. Apparently AC Milan’s offer was around the same figure Lyon paid to sign him from Besiktas last year.
AC Milan’s interest in such a move can be explained only by the club’s decision (or request) to sell one of the two back-up centre backs, namely Musacchio or Zapata. However, the player is reluctant of such a move as he wants to play football on regular basis rather than being a second option at San Siro.
