Dutch defender Stefan De Vrij has refused to sign a new deal with Lazio and will be free to join a new club on a free transfer next summer. AC Milan have made one last push for his services.
AC Milan have been interested in the Lazio defender since last summer. The capital club, however, refused to let him go, despite a single year remaining in the player’s contract. Risk became reality a few weeks ago, when the former Feyenoord informed the club of Claudio Lotito that he would not renew his expiring contract and will be able to join a new team next summer. The news allowed interested teams to get in touch with his agent to find an agreement and sign De Vrij on a free transfer.
The club that has come forward first is Inter offering the 26 year old centre back a five-year contract of 4.2 million euros per season. Rumors confirmed by today’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport which also revealed another last minute attempt of AC Milan to enter the race for his services, as well as Barcelona. But the disturbance maneuver of the Rossoneri has not been taken into consideration by the Dutchman and his entourage. Nothing to do then, with the player close to joining Inter. No regrets for the Rossoneri who can count on the duo Bonucci-Romagnoli.
