AC Milan make improved bid for Chukwueze, agreement closer

AC Milan are very close to completing an agreement for the signing of Nigerian winger Samuel Chukwueze from Villarreal.

AC Milan have accepted defeat in the pursuit of Arnaut Danjuma who will join Everton but they have not stopped negotiating with Villarreal. The Rossoneri have in fact intensified contacts with the Spanish club to find an agreement for the signing of Samuel Chukwueze who remains the top priority of the club.

In recent hours the Rossoneri have come very close to Villarreal’s demands. AC Milan have present an improved bid for Samuel Chukwueze of €20 million plus €8 million in add-ons. Both clubs are confident that an agreement can be closed very soon in the region of €30 million.

Another encouraging signal on the positive outcome for Samuel Chukwueze talks is that AC Milan have abandoned negotiations for Mehdi Taremi. The Iranian international was until now the front runner for centre forward role but he, just like Chukwueze, is not a European player and Milan have only one non-EU slot available. Noah Okafor was signed instead for the centre forward role.

AC Milan have already agreed personal terms with Chukwueze. The 24-year-old Nigerian right winger has already accepted a five-year contract of around €3.5 million. Stefano Pioli has been one of the main sponsors for Chukwueze’s signing. The Italian coach is confident that Samuel can bring the same speed and unpredictability like Rafael Leao on the left wing.

AC Milan need goals and assists from the right winger as well and that’s something that Junior Messias and Alexis Saelemaekers haven’t been able to provide. The Nigerian right winger instead ended last season with 13 goals and 11 assists in 50 appearances across all competitions. The Rossoneri are confident they have found Leao’s tween for the opposite flank.
