AC Milan make final decision on Simon Kjaer

Simon Kjaer

AC Milan have informed Sevilla on a final decision regarding the future of DaNish centre back Simon Kjaer.

When the January transfer window opened AC Milan made a surprising move. After a year and a half at San Siro, and no Serie A appearances, Milan decided to let Mattia Caldara leave and replace him with Simon Kjaer.

The 31-year-old centre back has vast experience in Italy having previously played in the past with Palermo, Roma and Atalanta. The Denmark international joined AC Milan on loan until the end of the season with the option to make his transfer permanent for a fee of €2.5 million.

Simon Kjaer made an immediate impact at San Siro. Coach Stefano Pioli preferred the Denmark captain over Mateo Musacchio and Kjaer made 7 appearances until suffering a muscle injury and the Coronavirus suspended the season.

During that time, Kjaer’s performances were convincing and he proved a reliable partner for captain Alessio Romagnoli at the heart of the defence. Thus AC Milan have decided to extend his stay at San Siro.

According to reports from Spain, AC Milan have informed Sevilla on their intention to exercise their buy option and sign Kjaer permanently for the figure of 2.5 million euros. The 31-year-old will provide valuable experience for his colleagues while his stay will mean the departure of Musacchio.
