AC Milan make final decision on Romain Faivre

AC Milan were linked with a January move for French star Romain Faivre but that will not be the case.

AC Milan lost Hakan Calhanoglu to Inter last summer but the Rossoneri managed to retain the service of Brahim Diaz. Junior Messias arrived in the last days of the mercato, however, the Brazilian was supposed to replace Samuel Castillejo on the right wing rather than serve as Diaz’s back-up.

AC Milan had identified Romain Faivre as the perfect replacement of Calhanoglu. Unfortunately, negotiations over a 15 million euros move with Brest broke down with the French club infuriated by the attitude of the 23-year-old midfielder.

It looked like the purchase of Faivre was only postponed for January but that will not be the case. Tuttosport reports that the AC Milan management have decided not to sign Faivre, or any other attacking midfielder/right winger, during the January transfer window.

The injury situation has improved and coach Stefano Pioli could have the entire forwards at his disposal for the upcoming match against Roma. With Rafael Leao and Ante Rebic returning to the base the management thinks the signing a new attacking midfielder should be made during the summer.

Romain Faivre has been in scintillating form this season scoring 7 goals and assisting 5 in 18 appearances in Ligue 1. The 23-year-old remains an important transfer target of AC Milan but the management has postponed considerable investments for the upcoming summer window.
