AC Milan new signing out for 6-months with rare condition
AC Milan had just signed the highly promising 18-year-old right-back from Roma. D’Alessio was discharged from the hospital today.
A few days ago AC Milan announced they have completed the signing of highly rated full-back Leonardo D’Alessio from Roma. A shocking transfer considering that D’Alessio had done a great job in the last two years with the Giallorossi and was expected to join Jose Mourinho’s first squad this season.
Leonardo D’Alessio joined Ignazio Abate’s Primavera squad with the perspective of following in the footsteps of Pierre Kalulu. Another right back who climbed the club’s hierarchy quickly to become a key player for coach Stefano Pioli. AC Milan had planned a similar path for the talented 18-yeard-old Italian right back but bad luck got in the way.
In fact, the start of D’Alessio’s Red and Black adventure is a bitter one. With an official statement AC Milan announced that Leonardo D’Alessio has suffered a ‘serious bur rare’ eye problem and was being treated at the San Raffaele hospital. The player will stay out for six months.
“AC Milan announces that last week Primavera player Leonardo D’Alessio suffered a serious but rare eye problem which saw him recovered at the San Raffaele hospital in Milan for observation and treatment. Leonardo is now doing well and was released today. Before returning to competitive action, he will have to undergo six months of recovery. Forza Leonardo, your teammates, coaching staff and the whole Club are waiting for you!”
AC Milan spent €500.000 to purchase Leonardo D’Alessio from Roma and the fee could increase up to one million with potential add-ons. The Giallorossi will also have a future sale percentage. The Italian right back signed a four-year contract with AC Milan. Frederic Massara (former Roma director) played a key role in this transfer.
