AC Milan scouts were in Portugal tonight to observe several Benfica players in Europa League’s match against Shakhtar Donetsk.
The Europa League is a competition that offers several players the opportunity to showcase their talent. Tonight’s Benfica-Shakhtar Donetsk ended 3-3 was a prime example of beautiful football in Europe’s second most important competition.
AC Milan scouts were at the Da Luz stadium tonight to follow closely several targets. The Rossoneri are always attentive on the market and are keeping a long list of names for the summer.
The primary target of AC Milan tonight was Florentino Luis. The Rossoneri are big fans of the 20-year-old wonderkid and have been following him for a long period. Unfortunately, coach Lage preferred Weigl in his place and the Portuguese defensive midfielder remained on the bench for the entire match.
The other three Benfica players started from the first minute. Central defender Ruben Dias was a big protagonist of the match scoring two goals, one for each team. In recent seasons Dias has established himself as one of the best centre backs in Europe but the 22-year-old has a high price tag.
Rafa Silva scored Benfica’s third goal that was supposed to be the match-winner. The 26-year-old left midfielder has been on fire this season scoring 8 goals and assisting 6 in 21 appearances in all competitions. Second striker Chiquinho had a rather quiet night perhaps influenced by the coach decision to deploy him as right midfielder.
