AC Milan insisting for Netherlands star

AC Milan are impressed with the recent performances of PSV star Steven Bergwijn and are considering a bid for the promising right winger.

Steven Bergwijn is the new name in the Rossoneri’s radar. The 20 year old right winger of PSV Eindhoven is one of the most promising youngsters in Netherlands. In only two seasons Bergwijn has transformed himself into one of the most important players of PSV and his performances have not gone unnoticed.

Despite the three ownership changes in just over a year, the AC Milan scouts have always been interested in the highly-rated prospect of PSV Eindhoven. Bergwijn, who will turn 21 on October 8th, seems ready to move to a more competitive championship with greater prestige and pressure. At the end of the season, or if he continues to score at this pace already in January, the Netherlands U-21 starlet will be one of the most in-demand assets of the European transfer market.

On August he renewed his contract with PSV until June 2022, saying he wanted to mature smoothly, without looking for easy money, waiting calmly for a chance at a big club. Right mindedness, certainly appreciated by many in the football world, especially old-fashioned executives like Leonardo and Maldini. We’ll see if the Brazilian in the coming months will make a concrete attempt to convince the player to wear the AC Milan jersey already in January.

The Rossoneri have been on his tracks for a long time and perhaps the current management could try to do what their predecessors failed in the months before, bring Bergwijn at Milanello. Calciomercato reports that the Red and Blacks are optimistic about reaching a deal.

The highly-rated youngster practically acts in Suso’s area but he can easily switch on the left or even play as striker. Unlike the Spaniard, the 20 year Dutch winger can guarantee a bigger number of goals. Last season Steven Bergwijn scored 8 goals in 32 appearances while so far this year he has netted 4 goals in 6 Eredivisie games.
