AC Milan have identified Marcel Sabitzer as the ideal attacking midfielder. The Red Bull Leipzig star is set to move this summer.
The new attacking midfielder may be AC Milan’s most important summer signing. The Rossoneri are looking a wide number of candidates to replace Hakan Calhanoglu. The Turkish star refused to renew his contract with the Red and Blacks and joined Inter on a free transfer.
According to reports from La Repubblica, AC Milan have identified Marcel Sabitzer as the ideal attacking midfielder and more suitable to Stefano Pioli’s game. The 27-year-old captain of Red Bull Leipzig is the number one transfer target to replace Calhanoglu claims La Repubblica.
Sabitzer has similar qualities and characteristics with Hakan. However, he is a more versatile player and at Leipzig has covered practically every role in midfield. An accurate passer, gifted the great technique and with a keen eye for goal. The Austria international is one of the most complete European midfielders around.
Sabitzer’s contract situation is a big advantage for the Rossoneri. The current deal of the 27-year-old runs down in one year and, unless he is sold this summer, Red Bull Leipzig risk losing him for free next year. The German club is ready to part ways with Marcel Sabitzer if an offer of 17-20 million euros arrives.
The only obstacle is the intense competition for the player’s services. A host of Premier League clubs and Roma are interested in the Leipzig star. Meanwhile, AC Milan are looking to sell Jens Peter Hauge and later make an official bid to RB Leipzig.
