AC Milan identify Rodriguez replacement

Ricardo Rodriguez, Craiova - Milan

Ricardo Rodriguez

Rumors about Ricardo Rodriguez possible departure after the World Cup continue to increase. In the meantime AC Milan have already identified his replacement.

The 25 year old Rossoneri defender could be on the move soon. Ricardo Rodriguez was signed for 18 million euros last summer but flopped in his first year at San Siro, like many other new arrivals this season. Two German clubs, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are monitoring his situation and are ready to bring the talented Swiss back in Bundesliga.

While Rodriguez is an undisputed star at international level every time he plays with Switzerland, he has failed to repeat the same performances at AC Milan (read here why). The rossoneri could decide to sacrifice him this summer but only in front of a pleasing offer. Whatever the outcome the club has identified his replacement.

AC Milan has already signed Ivan Strinic in that position but he is considered only an alternative of experience and not a regular starter. According to Sky Sport, Gennaro Gattuso’s chosen one would be Cristiano Biraghi, 25 year old left back of Fiorentina and a product of Inter youth ranks. The Italian defender was author of an excellent season with the Viola and seems ready for the big step forward, as long as the costs and availability coincide with the economic possibilities of the Red and Blacks.
