AC Milan technical director Leonardo is looking for a long-term replacement for Lucas Biglia and has identified Atalanta’s midfielder Filippo Melegoni as a top candidate.
The hunt for young talents, Italian and international, never stops at Casa Milan. Even with the new American ownership, the Rossoneri are paying close attention to gifted players that can become future stars. One of these players of such characteristics is without a doubt Filippo Melegoni.
The Italy Under-21 defensive midfielder has emerged again as a target for AC Milan. Melegoni is an excellent metronome who grew up in the youth ranks of Atalanta and can be the long-term replacement for Lucas Biglia. The 19 year old is currently on loan at Pescara, in Serie B, where he will try to showcase all his talent and also aim for a big move next season.
According to reports, Leonardo is very interested in Filippo Melegoni and will follow closely his path in Serie B. The former Atalanta was praised by the press after his debut with Pescara against Livorno and is determined to perform at the same levels throughout the season.
The Rossoneri consider his signing a feasible operation in the future, given that relations with Atalanta have always been optimal. In the last two seasons players like Andrea Conti, Kessie, Pessina and Vido have moved between the two clubs. Hopefully Melegoni will be next.
