Much more was expected from AC Milan this season especially in terms of goals and play. So far the results are rather underwhelming.
The reasons of AC Milan’s crisis are different and among them there is also the difficulty the rossoneri are facing to find the back of the net. In particular, the three Milan strikers are the ones to be struggling most. In the league, in fact, Kalinic has scored three goals, Cutrone two, while Andre Silva has yet to score his first goal in Serie A. Too little considering that players like Immobile, Dybala or Mertens have scored more than 10 goals so far.
As Tuttosport explains this morning, despite the many millions of euros spent in the summer to strengthen the offensive department, the Devil fails to score with continuity, so much that Kalinic, Andre Silva and Cutrone, the three “true” strikers available for Montella, all together have scored even lees than Fiorentina’s striker Thereau. Obviously the fault can not be only of the centre forwards, who receive scarce balls inside the area. Conditioning everything is also sometimes the too slow and predictable maneuver of the rossoneri up front.
The Torino based newspaper also analyzed the direct confrontations with Champions League rivals, that all were decided by the bombers of the opposing team: three goals for Immobile in the 4-1 against Lazio, three goals from Icardi in the 3-2 against Inter, two goals from Higuain in the 2-0 against Juventus and only one but decisive goal from Dzeko, enough to secure a 2-0 win for Roma. Furthermore, in all these challenges, AC Milan’s strikers failed to score a single goal. The crisis in this first part of the season is explained by the difficulties of the rossoneri strikers.
