AC Milan have their first €100m player after Scudetto win
The market value of AC Milan left winger Rafael Leao has skyrocketed after winning the Scudetto as a protagonist.
More then a decade after their last win the Scudetto returns to AC Milan. The Rossoneri lift up the Serie A title in dramatic fashion overcoming Sassuolo 3-0 in the very last league match of the season. Thus AC Milan equalize Inter with 19 Scudetto won. An important part in the Rossoneri’s scudetto triumph played Portuguese winger Rafael Leao.
The 23-year-old was the driving force of the squad for the majority of the season taking over after Ibrahimovic’s injury. Leao had his best year with the Red and Blacks scoring 14 goals and assisting 12 across all competitions. Excellent performances that have seen his market value skyrocket.
La Gazzetta dello Sports that Rafael Leao has now become AC Milan’s first player to be worth €100 million. Nearly four times what the Rossoneri paid to Lille to acquire his services in 2019. The Portuguese winger has grown exponentially, surprising even his biggest critics.
Against Sassuolo, Leao was an absolute protagonist with three assists that were transformed in goals by Olivier Giroud and Franck Kessie. The former Lille winger has been in scintillating form all year cementing his status as one of the best players in Serie A. However, his contractual situation is problematic for the Rossoneri.
Leao’s current contract expires in two years. The Portuguese star and AC Milan are negotiating an extension until 2026 but so far the parties haven’t reached an agreement. Maldini has offered him the renewal at 4.5 million per season but the 23-year-old is asking for something more.
